When Rohit works with clients who are wanting to challenge their lives and become the best version of themselves that they can be, he often begins by asking them a simple question: What are the traits you feel a successful person would have? Once they come up with this list, it’s easy to find instances in their own lives where they have lived those traits. So if they have done it before, why can’t they do it again?

For example, let’s take public speaking. This is a quality that most people would want in their lives, but get nervous and talk themselves out of it. What are the traits that a person who is a successful speaker would have? Let’s say confidence, courage, and knowledgeable. Well, can you think of instances in your life when you have felt one of these traits? The answer is always yes, so why can’t you just step into those traits now?

It’s easy to talk ourselves out of doing the things that challenge us, but that is also how we become complacent and stop growing. Which version of you do you really want to be?
