We all set New Year’s Resolutions, but did you know that by January 15th, 95% of us have already broken those resolutions? The sames one that we declared, as a matter of fact, 100% I will complete it, nothing is going to stand in my way, just you watch and see. So why don’t resolutions work? And more importantly, why do we set such an importance on January 1st when we could really start right now to be the best version of us that we can possibly be.

We explore the 5 steps that you need in order to kickoff 2018, or any other year, off right!

  1. Take a break from your activity/thinking: This is so valuable because you need a mental time out to not just have an open and honest reflective look at what you are trying to accomplish, but also it gives you a break from the stresses involved.
  2. List your achievements: Rohit Rohila says that this is the most important of all the steps. If you don’t take a look at how you have succeeded in the past, you won’t have much self-confidence to complete them moving forward. Make sure you look at the measurable achievements and write them down.
  3. Look at the greater picture: We get so caught up in the here and now, the quick fix, that we neglect the long-term goals because it’s harder for us to see those results. Try working backwards. If you would like to lose 10 pounds this year, well then you know that by July you need to lose 5 pounds. Now all of a sudden you have measurable millstones.
  4. Work out the next steps: If you want to lose 10 pounds by the end of the year, put together what your next steps should be. We can tell you that what got you to your current situation, those habits, won’t get you to where you want to by.
  5. TAKE ACTION: Why did we put all caps on there, because it’s that important. Most of us won’t even get this far, but if you do, take action! Don’t just sit on the sidelines of your own life!
